Our Minister...

Bro. Patrick E. English Sr. was baptized into Christ at the Crusade for Christ in 1979 under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Harrison.  He has been married for 32 years to Sis. Deatrice English and they have three sons:  Patrick Jr., Perry, and Pierce.

 

In 1992, he was groomed in a ministerial class under the leadership of Dr. Harrison and was ordained as a Minister.  The positions he held at the Chatham-Avalon Church of Christ included Assistant Minister, Choir Director, Instructor and Teacher at various ages.  Bro. English Sr. soon departed from the Chatham-Avalon Church of Christ to assist Bro. Eddie J. Gillis Jr. to continue to serve God through works at the Southwest Church of Christ.

 

In 2002, he accepted the called and was ordained as the Assistant Minister at the Southwest Church of Christ.  His works included Superintendent of Education, VBS Coordinator, Instructor/Teacher various ages and grades, Marriage Counseling, individual Bible Study, Zone Captain, and various other leadership works.

 

In December 2019, Evangelist, Eddie J. Gillis Jr. consulted with Bro. Patrick E. English Sr., and Deacon, Bro. Percy L. Hope Jr. and announced his retirement from the position of the Ministering Leader, but not from serving God.

 

On January 1, 2020, Bro. Patrick E. English Sr. was given the charge to become the Minister of Southwest and the members accepted him as their Minister, along with his wife Sis. Deatrice English serving alongside.

 

In effort to continue God's work in the ministry, serving alongside Bro. English Sr. are Bro. Percy L. Hope Jr. (Deacon) and other faithful brothers and members of the congregation.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Southwest congregation began using the platform of Zoom in March 2020 to conduct its ministries. Bro. Patrick E. English Sr. was formally installed as the Minister on December 20, 2020 to advance the work of the Southwest Church of Christ with God’s grace and mercy.
